Fortnite is the most played game in the world
What is fortnite?
Fortnite, Epic Games game available for download on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC, and in mobile version for Android phones and iPhone (iOS), is one of the biggest hits of the Battle Royale genre. The game has impressive numbers, such as the final event of the 10th season, which has accumulated over 40 million simultaneous views on social networks. In addition, Fortnite closed 2019 with almost $ 2 billion in revenue (about $ 8 billion), making it the most profitable free game of the year. Check out other numbers of the game in 2019 below.
Over 250 million players
Last year Epic's CEO Tim Sweeney reported that Fortnite already had more than 250 million players across all platforms on which the game is available. The number represents a 100% increase over the number of players in June 2018. Of that total, about 78% play exclusively on consoles, meaning that 195 million Fortnite players only access the game via Xbox One, PS4 or Nintendo Switch.
The success of Battle Royale on the mobile version, however, is also significant. In just five months after its launch on iOS in April 2018, Fortnite exceeded 100 million downloads. On Android, in 20 days the game reached the mark of 23 million downloads.
One of the most watched games on Twitch
According to the Twitch Tracker website, which analyzes numbers from the live stream service, Fortnite is the seventh most watched game on the platform. About 73,000 viewers watch Battle Royale lives every week, representing 5.4% of Twitch’s total viewers. Most channels broadcast in English, but Brazilians appear on the list of those who most watch the broadcasts. In 2019, the Fortnite average hit 100,000 viewers per month, dropping slightly after the start of Chapter 2. In the World Cup finals, more than 14 million total hours were watched.
Most profitable game of 2019
Fortnite hit the $ 1.8 billion mark in revenue last year. Despite being the most profitable game of the year, the number represents a 25% drop compared to 2018 revenue, when Battle Royale broke the record of digital games revenue with $ 2.4 billion (R $ 10 billion).
